Please bring a copy of your birth certificate, a ball, shinguards and a registration check for $150 written out to BSYSL.
This will be a competitive travel team for girls who want to improve their foot and field skills. The spring season will consist of 8 games, 4 at home and 4 in the Central Florida region. An extended dedication to soccer should be exhibited by the players and their families. One fundraiser will be planned, possibly a car wash.

Oct 07, 2009 @ 9:33 pm

Congrats to Jordan Crown, Jordan has been selected to train with Estudiantes de la Plata International Training Program.
This training program was designed to develop the technical and tactical aspects of each player’s game, combined with intense Argentinean soccer training focusing on ball skills and game situations.
Participants will have the opportunity to practice with Argentine professional players. Players will be training, and scrimmaging with the top players of similar age. Players will be grouped according to abilities and may train with the same age or a year younger. This program is designed for players who have a strong desire to play at an elite soccer level. This program is the ultimate soccer training experience for individuals to take advantage of
playing with a professional soccer club in a country that generates the top soccer players in the world. The concept is for players to mix in with the professional academy at Estudiantes.
The cost of this trip is $2000.00. He will be leaving November 22- 29 to Argentina and he needs our help getting him there donations are now being accepted @ Ocala Sports. Lightning Strikes in Flagler!! U13 Lightning Bring Home Silver
Jul 27, 2009 @ 2:29 pm
In their first time ever playing full 11 v 11 soccer, and playing up in the u14 Bracket against older, physically larger and experienced teams, the rising u13 Lightning girls (with some guest player assistance) took 2nd Place at the Flagler Premier Summer Invitational in Palm Coast this past weekend.
Taking on the Westside Eagles u14 Region Cup team, the Lightning went down early, only to make a tremendous comeback and get a 2-2 draw.
In match two is was Ocala vs Flagler Velocity, a US Club soccer team comprised a mix of u13 and u14 players. Again the Lightning overcame an early deficit to win the match 4-2.
Match 3 on Sunday morning was Ocala Lightning vs Atlanta Fire United 97 Gold, a highly ranked Georgia team. In Georgia, teams have an option to play 11 v 11 starting at u12, and this team took that option and has been playing 11 v 11 for some time. It was a great match. Unfortunately due to injury and illness, the Lightning played shorthanded in 10 v 11 or 9 v 11 for long stretches of the game, but they played valiantly and with tremendous heart. In the end it was a 2-2 draw, but is was also enough for the Lightning to capture the group and play in the Championship final vs the East Orange Lightning u14 State Cup Team.
Playing the final match with no subs and in a 9 v 11 most of the game, the Lightning fell 3-0. The game was shortened due to severe weather, but the Lightning girls should be incredibly proud their performance. The Lightning girls that played are, Krystina Miles, Addison Foster, Sabrina Alonso, Reiley Hutchinson, Sydney Jimenez, Nicole Chindamo, Reena Manohar, Dorie Hellmann, Lainey Ressler, Maria Rodriguez, Melody Smalley, and Lightning guest players Alyssa Eashoo, Daniela Cobb, Carlie Hellmann and Priya Manohar.
Good Sportmanship Recognoized
Mar 23, 2009 @ 11:44 am
The following letter was emailed to Coach Robert Putzeys who is one of the girls competitive "Ocala Lightening" teams.
Coach,
Just wanted to tell you that I thought our game Saturday was a nice even and enjoyable match. I would also like to complement and commend your team for being tough competitors and very good sports. I heard (and have been told by a couple of parents) players on both teams collide and after the play moved on both girls asked each other if they were ok. It does not sound like a big deal, but I recognize that by this occurring multiple times good sportsmanship is being taught and re-enforced as a proper way to play this sport.
I feel that this was a nice example of sportsmanship that we do not see in our league games often.
Thank you and good luck.
LT John Simonson
